First, let's take a look at the paid sites:
1. Steam - Who doesn't know that name? The most popular download site in the world. Owned by Valve, and the games are downloaded by people all over the world! They have their own community with rewards and level ups within the community. Their most famous pack of goods is their humble bumble deals (always a good sale!). If a game looks too expensive on there, don't worry, eventually you'll find a deal on that game as time goes on! They use DRM protection to protect their distributed games. 2. GOG (Good old Games) - Another famous site on the web. I personally really like this site. The majority of their games you can consider to be classic, though they do have a handful of new games. They are starting to add new games more frequently. Their games are also DRM free, which means, all you have to do is install and play without any hassle or worrying about being connected to a 3rd party engine. For people that are more simple, look no further! Their games are easy to setup and their games have the best compatibility that I know of for classic games. Link: https://www.gog.com
3. Itch.io - Another game site that is now starting to slowly rise. More and more people are discovering this site. Most of their games are indie games, but there are games on here that you wont find anywhere else! Their site is simple enough to use and their games have great prices! Check them out! 4. MangaGamer - The biggest Visual Novel paid download site on the web! The games might seem pricey, but they are indeed worth it! They games are constantly updated! You can also leave reviews on that site. The artwork is very nicely drawn, so make sure to check them out and make a purchase or two! Please note that it is an adult visual novel site, so do not enter if you are under 18! They usually have a lot of promos on there, so make sure to check everything out! Some of their visual novels have gameplay, like some are considered an RPG. So, basically they have some hybrid visual novels on there. They are indeed worth every dime. I wouldn't say every single visual novel is going to be great, because they put out multiple visual novels on a regular basis, so you might find a few oddballs. But, the majority are nice! For some of you that might try to knock down visual novels, please know that they are not a book, but an interactive story. Some visual novels only have one route, but the majority have multiple routes with multiple endings. Most visual novels have voice acting and sound effects, as well as the best music ever! 5. Big Fish Games - Hey, don't look all unhappy! Big Fish Games is growing constantly and constantly adding new rpg's to their list. Also, they have Chicken Invaders! Who doesn't know what that series is!? Everyone loves Chicken Invaders! It is true that most of their games are hidden object, puzzle, and time management, but you're going to find a lot of arcade games now and even some rpg's. 6. Origin - Owned by EA and they have a big catalog full of games! Most of the EA games are high rated games and by big teams! There's not much that I can say about EA that most people don't already know. As for the Origin website, you'll just have to check it out and see. 7. Blizzard Entertainment - They are famous for World of Warcraft and Starcraft! You'll need to go to their website to get any of their games or be lucky enough to find them in stores. They own a good amount of nice games and I technically love their games. They are very strict, but also very reasonable. So, be on your best behavior if you decide to join their site. Most of their games they are highly protective over, so it's not likely that they'll allow you to create private servers of any of their games. I mean, they're still making money on their old games! I wont call them greedy, they're just very strict and loyal to their games. If you do find a game that you might want to create a private server on (non profit), speak to them first. Don't even try running a private server on Diablo 3. That's the number one game they will fight you over. Other than that, they're a pretty nice company and their games are usually beyond fun. Now let's take a look at the pirated sites:
1. Goodolddownloads - This is a site that his been growing rapidly over time and even making huge changes to their site to make searching easier for people. They now have 3 categories to choose from: Scene Games, GOG Games, and Retro Games! They have all the latest updates of all the major games released. They're a hard working site with lots of new content always posted. They used to only provide DRM GOG releases, but now they provide a bit of everything. Link: https://goodolddownloads.com
2. IGG-Games - I think most people know this name. A site formed in 2013, becoming the most famous and infamous site ever. You either hate them or love them. There's no in between. I can say, for the most part, they upload the most indie games of any pirated site. They also upload some already cracked games as well as games they cracked their self. They crack their own indie games, but as for major titles, they just wait for the game to be cracked, since those games are cracked within 24 hours. After that, you'll find it on their site. Either way, they hold tons and tons of games on there. Only downfall is the community is pretty harsh and some of the indie games aren't cracked right. I've seen people getting treated badly by multiple members as well the some of the moderator team. Sometimes you'll get that one annoying mod which will jump in with the other members just to try and pick on some guy. It's always been a train reaction. If one person stomps on someone, so does the rest. It's an ongoing negative treatment provided by their community. Other than that, most of the games are cracked well, other than the IGG Games water mark you'll get for the title screen. The watermark wont be in the game, just on the title. 3. Vsetop - For people who do not know this name, they are very sturdy and hard working. They have more updates than most sites. Every day they have 1 - 2 pages of updates on multiple games. For a pirated site, that's a ton! Even on older games you'll find tons of updates they do on a regular basis. Most of their focus is updating games rather than putting out new games. Though, they do put out new games on a regular basis, but their strong point is constant updates. If you've noticed a game that's been outdated on another pirated site, well Vsetop updates that game. Not every game you'll find there to be the most updated, but you will for most of the newer games or games that are in early access! They even have old stuff being updated that most pirated sites give up on! Most of their stuff is repacks, though some of them you'll find in standard ISO format. Also, most of their games are in both English and Russian. You might find a couple rare games that are not in English, but that is far and few. 4. Fitgirl Repacks - Who doesn't know fitgirl? This girl holds the smallest file repacks ever known! When it comes to repacking size, this girl is unmatched. Only problem is, for the bigger games, you're gonna wait hours! But, if you're looking to save space, Fitgirl holds the golden gloves. Also, there is a community there with lots of members. Most people respond to posts. She only repacks well known games. Most of which are not indie games! Also, everything is done through torrent on there. Link: http://fitgirl-repacks.site
5. HDD Games - The admin now uses this site. She originally used a different website, but replaced it with this one. This website also uses a different Domain. I don't remember what happened to the old site, I just heard bits and pieces and don't remember the details. This site has a great community! There's a little chat screen on the site where you don't even need to sign up. The people are very nice! The games on here are most likely obtained from other sites (not sure where), but they are repacked very nicely. Most of the time you'll be able to extract the game and play it. It's done pretty professional, and you don't have to rename multiple folders since most of the time it's already named nicely! The owner of the site is a very nice person. She is intelligent and good at computers. She single-handedly uploades her own torrents. She is usually very busy, so you'll most likely be speaking to a moderator or someone of the community if you need help. Link: https://hddgames.com
6. Eroge Download - This is a visual novel site. Most of what they have are adult visual novels; Hence the name.... But, you can still find other visuals on there. They are the biggest pirated visual novel site out there. You will constantly see new visual novels on there as they are released! They are always up to date. Only downfall is, you're going to have to download a lot of part rar files! Most people don't have the patience for 10 or more rar files, but if you can't find certain visual novels anywhere else just know that you can find it there. This site does not list sites from least to best, or best to least. It lists them however I enter them. Just because it looks like a site is 3rd or 4th numbered does not make it that rank.
